Meeting with social cooperatives and social workers from Ravenna at CittAttiva.

ErosAntEros, which is directing POLIS Teatro Festival since 2018, presents the Suspended Tickets project and the POLIS 2023 program to local social cooperatives. A meeting moment, coordinated by Villaggio Globale, to introduce and collaborate the world of culture with the world of social work, within the city of Ravenna.

ErosAntEros opens a call to address the issue of climate change together with the citizens. The theater workshop is linked to the production of the new work GAIA, which, co-produced by Ravenna Festival and POLIS Teatro Festival, will debut in June 10-11 at Teatro Alighieri, with the involvement of non-professionals on stage.

The workshop is reserved to a maximum of 20 people, sensitive to the climate emergency, with whom the artists will share the creative process of the production and involve the participants on stage during the performances of GAIA in Ravenna.

The schedule includes several meeting between April and June 2023.
The first meeting is on April 4 at 8 pm at Circolo Il Portoncino (via Portoncino 4, Ravenna), followed by weekly 2-hour meetings every Tuesday at 8 pm at the same place. Then the participants will be involved in some rehearsal: May 30 and May 31 at the Teatro Socjale in Piangipane; June 8 and June 9 at Teatro Alighieri. The schedule will end on June 10 and June 11 at Teatro Alighieri with the debut of the performance.

To join the workshop, it is necessary to fill out the online form by March 31, at the link: https://forms.gle/JynDAnwHs2z1CUdi7
(Submissions are extended to Tuesday, April 11 by filling out the online form or by coming to Circolo Il Portoncino at 8 pm for the second workshop meeting).

POLIS Teatro Festival triumphs at the Ubu Awards: a double win for Compagnia Licia Lanera’s Con la carabina, a performance co-produced by POLIS Teatro Festival, which made its national premiere at the festival in May 2022 with 4 dates and an extraordinary replica due to the great success of the audience. Licia Lanera wins the “best director award”, while Pauline Peyrade goes for the “best foreign text staged for the first time by an Italian company”.

The good news for POLIS Teatro Festival does not end there: the “special Ubu award” goes to Fabrizio Arcuri, who opened the 2022 edition of POLIS at Teatro Alighieri with the great Filippo Nigro in the participatory performance Every Brilliant Thing.

POLIS Teatro Festival 2022 has come to an end, meeting the challenge of programming in a difficult and uncertain time nearly 20 events including performances and meetings, promoting dialogue between cultures and different generations of artists, scholars and spectators, pursuing the idea of a theater that fights marginality and becomes a place of fiction where the sorrows of the present can be addressed. Most importantly, POLIS has successfully become an international festival of contemporary theater!

Thanks for the support!

And here the final video:

Thanks to all the people who were with us and made this fifth and courageous edition special. We are waiting to find out how the institutions will decide to reward our boldness or not, and we continue to work to make the next editions of the festival possible.

POLIS Teatro Festival, directed by Agata Tomšič and Davide Sacco / ErosAntEros since 2018 in Ravenna, enters the Ministry of Culture’s Fund for Performing Arts for the three-year period 2022-2024, achieving the highest artistic quality score in the entire Italy in the Theatre Festival category!

POLIS, which as of this year has taken on the new form of an international festival by placing an international focus on contemporary French dramaturgy at the center of its program, after its success with audiences and a large following from national critics, is now also being rewarded by the Ministry of Culture. This is a great recognition for a festival that has grown so much in just five years to the point of opening up to the international scene.

POLIS Teatro Festival is supported by Ministry of Culture, Emilia-Romagna Region, Municipality of Ravenna, Fondazione del Monte of Bologna and Ravenna, Otto per Mille funds from the Valdese Church, Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Ravenna.
