PPP ti presento l’Albania is a monologue based on autobiographical stories, extracted from the novel Il sogno di una cosa by Pasolini and authorial reworkings. The scenography consists of a white table and chair, a book and a grid of light bulbs with black and white photos of places and people important for Ilir, the protagonist. PPP ti presento l’Albania tells the meeting between a twenty-year-old son of Albanian migrants and the novel by Pier Paolo Pasolini (PPP). Reading this book, Ilir jumps to his feet and runs to get his diary where he enthusiastically writes: “Dear P.P.P, I am writing to you first of all to thank you …”. Thus begins an imaginary correspondence that leads him to tell the migration of his parents, the legends handed down by his grandparents, the dances and ceremonies present in his land. In this way, Ilir gradually re-elaborates the sense of belonging to his own origins, rediscovering himself in the words of a great writer. The show accompanies the spectator through a succession of mirror situations. On one hand, there is Friuli, a region of northern Italy where Pasolini grew up. On the other, there is Ilir’s Albania, Klaus Martini’s transparent alter ego, which obtains, from Pasolini’s finding himself in his mother’s homeland, the urge to find himself in a world from which he was separated himself as a child, forgetting and censoring it to preserve the possibility of a new and different integration.
