Agata Tomšič joins the new Board of ItaliaFestival
Agata Tomšič was elected to the new Board of ItaliaFestival during the association’s latest General Assembly, held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. This appointment marks a moment of significant value for our organization, which will now be able to represent the needs and interests of festivals and organizations like ours at a national level, while gaining valuable experience and building new relationships.
Founded in 1987 under the auspices of AGIS (the Italian General Association for the Performing Arts), ItaliaFestival now represents 50 national festivals and 5 festival networks spanning music, theater, dance, literature, and the performing arts.
The main purpose of the network is to promote festivals as tools for social cohesion and territorial development, fostering dialogue between businesses, supporting emerging realities, and serving as a spokesperson for the cultural sector’s needs in its dialogue with institutions.
Equally important is the role that ItaliaFestival plays on an international level: the association is, in fact, part of the EFA (European Festivals Association)—the most important festival network, based in Brussels, which encourages exchanges between member countries and the internationalization of culture and live performance—of which POLIS Teatro Festival became a member in 2026.
