The dialogue Living Europe in the North and the East aims to reflect on both the historical roots of the relationship between the North, South, East, and West of the European continent during the 20th century, and the urgent need to rethink the process of European integration in light of the upheavals that have characterized this first quarter of the 21st century.
Karolis Kaupinis is a film director and journalist, born in 1987 in Vilnius. A graduate of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University, he previously worked as an international news journalist for Lithuanian television. He made a successful debut with the short films The Noisemaker (2014) and Watchkeeping (2017), followed by the feature film Nova Lituania (2019), receiving numerous accolades both in Lithuania and abroad.
Michele Marchi is a Professor of Contemporary History at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna (Ravenna Campus), where his courses include Political History of European Integration, History of Euro-Mediterranean Political Systems since 1945, and European Integration and the Mediterranean Area. He is the Vice-President of the Fondazione Casa di Oriani and a member of the cultural and political association Il Mulino. His primary research interests focus on the political history of contemporary Europe and the relationship between domestic politics and the European integration process in the second half of the 20th century. He is a columnist for L’Altravoce and Il Messaggero. His recent publications include Presidenzialismo a metà. Modello francese, passione italiana.
Sofia Ventura is Associate Professor of Political Science at the Department of the Arts (DAR) of the University of Bologna, where she teaches Political Communication. A specialist in Italian politics, French politics, and federal systems, her most recent research focuses primarily on political leadership, political communication, and public diplomacy.
